Cookie Policy

Draft: pending review by qualified counsel
This policy lists exactly what Escrow.International stores on your device and why. The short version: three cookies, all of them strictly necessary, plus one entry in your browser's local storage that remembers whether you prefer the light or dark interface. There is no analytics, no tracking pixel and no advertising technology on this site.
1. Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store and send back on the next request. Local storage is a different mechanism in the same browser: it keeps a value on your device but never sends it anywhere by itself. We use both, in the narrow way described below. Storing information on your device, or reading information already stored there, is regulated in Germany by section 25 of the Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act. Consent is not required where the storage is strictly necessary to provide a service that you have expressly requested. Everything listed here falls into that exception, so nothing on this site waits for your consent before it works. Where we show you a cookie notice or a preferences dialog, it exists so that you can see what is stored and so that a choice is already recorded if a non-essential category is ever introduced. Your choice is kept on your own device and is never sent to us.
2. Cookies we set
These three cookies are set by escrow.international itself. None of them is set by a third party, and none of them is used to build a profile of you.
Name Purpose Lifetime Strictly necessary esc_session Holds the access token for your signed-in session, so each request can be attributed to your account. Not readable by JavaScript. 15 minutes, renewed while you are active Yes esc_refresh Holds the refresh token that renews your session without asking you to sign in again. Not readable by JavaScript. 30 days Yes NEXT_LOCALE Remembers the interface language you chose, so the site opens in that language next time. 12 months Yes, for the language function you requested 3. What is stored in your browser instead of a cookie
escrow-theme, in local storage, records whether you selected the light interface, the dark interface or the system default. It is written only when you use the theme switch, it stays on your device, and it is never transmitted to us. escrow-cookie-consent, in local storage, records the choice you made in the cookie notice, together with the version of the policy it was made under and the date. It stays on your device and is never transmitted to us. Clearing it simply brings the notice back. If you enable push notifications, your browser also stores the technical subscription for them. You can revoke it in your browser settings or under Settings, Notifications. The Privacy Notice explains what happens with push.
4. No analytics and no marketing cookies
We use no analytics service, no tag manager, no advertising network, no social media plug-in and no tracking pixel. There is no Google Analytics, no Meta pixel and no comparable technology on this site, and no third party sets a cookie through it. The site loads no fonts, scripts or images from external servers. Everything the page needs is delivered from escrow.international. If this ever changes, we will name the provider, its purpose, the cookie it sets and its lifetime here, and we will ask for your consent before the first non-essential cookie is set. Nothing of that kind is planned at present.
5. Server log data
Independently of cookies, our servers record technical data about each request, such as the time, the requested address, the response status, the IP address and the browser identification. This is necessary to operate the service securely and to investigate faults and attacks. The legal basis is our legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The Privacy Notice describes this in more detail.
6. Controlling cookies yourself
Every browser lets you view, delete and block cookies, and lets you clear local storage. Where to find that is documented by your browser vendor. Be aware of the consequence: if you block or delete the two session cookies, you cannot stay signed in, and the signed-in areas of the platform stop working. Deleting the language cookie only means the site falls back to the language in the address, or to your browser's preferred language.
7. Changes to this policy
We update this policy whenever a cookie is added, changed or removed. The date of the current version is shown at the top of this page.
